School Event

We are excited to have the opportunity to host Mr. Bob Randall, Australian Aboriginal elder from the Yankunytjatjara tribe on Friday Jan 20. Bob was forcibly taken from his family by white authorities as a seven year old, (Aboriginal Stolen Generation) and now and has been for most of his life, an educator and performer who follows his vision of teaching and sharing Aboriginal culture. One of his books is called "Songman, the Story of an Aboriginal Elder by Bob Randall published by ABC Books. His most popular song, "Brown Skin Baby", his film. "Kanyini - connectedness.

He will be speaking with the high school students at 8:40 a.m. for approx 40 minutes and then will be spending time with our elementary students later in the morning.

Waste Managment Election Results

Fishers Island Waste Management District is pleased to welcome Ann Banks to its board.  Ann won the election Tuesday, December 13, 2011.  Her term is five years, commencing January 1, 2012.

 
The election was held at the Community Center and the District thanks them for the use of their space.

Village Market Closed Sundays

Effective January 8, 2012  the village market will be closed on sundays until 
further notice.... Please plan accordingly.  The Sunday Papers can be 
purchased at the FISHERS ISLAND FERRY TERMINALS "WAITING ROOM".   Papers can 
be purchased from 8am until 10am.
