By now you have heard the tragic news regarding our friend Don Wilkinson. In the midst of our grief, family plans have been made for the services to honor his life. The memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, September 11 at 10 am at Mystic Congregational Church right across from CVS at the Civil War traffic circle in Mystic. This will be followed by a reception at Ram Island Yacht Club.

The effects of Hurricane Earl will reach this region on Friday. Based on continuance of the current track and hurricane center predictions at this time the strongest winds will occur Friday evening and Friday night. The strongest winds will be from the northerly quadrant, first northeasterly and then backing to the north.

The federal government has sold the Latimer Reef Lighthouse in Fishers Island Sound to the highest bidder for $225,000.
The buyer was not identified by the federal General Services Administration, which conducted an online auction for the active navigation beacon that had been declared surplus to reduce the Coast Guard's maintenance load.
