Fishers Island Waste Management District

Is Accepting Applications for Employment 

We are looking for a team player with excellent people skills to assist residents with proper disposal of waste and recycling items and other related duties

Duties include grounds and facilities maintenance

Candidates must be able to assist with brush and wood chipping and log splitting and care of machinery

 

Ability to operate heavy equipment necessary (experience beneficial - training available)

Sufficient physical strength, agility and ability to do heavy labor is required

Computer experience would be advantageous

Must have a valid driver’s license

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, there has been presented to the Town Board of the Town of Southold, Suffolk County, New York, 12th day of February, 2013, a Local Law entitled “A Local Law in relation to Amendments to Chapter 83, Animals, and Chapter 193, Parks and Recreation Areas, in connection with Control of Dogs or Domestic Animals throughout the Town” and

NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that the Town Board of the Town of Southold will hold a public hearing on the aforesaid Local Law at the Southold Town Hall, 53095 Main Road, Southold, New York, on the  26th  day of March, 2013, at 4:32 p.m. at which time all interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard.

Women's Lenten Mini-Retreat on Saturday, March 23rd, 9am-2pm.
Theme of the retreat is: Hope and Strength in TImes of Suffering. We will be using the book, "Your Sorrow is My Sorrow", by Joyce Rupp. We will explore the Seven Sorrows of Mary and reflect on how they relate to our lives.
Soup, bread and beverage provided. Please bring a snack or dessert to share. Please contact church to let us know you are coming and where the retreat is being held on island.

THE LIGHTHOUSE WORKS: New Fellows arrived March 1!

Our new fellows—the first three of twelve artists slated for 2013—arrived Friday, March 1 and will be living and working on the island until mid April.  Keep an eye out for news of their exhibition in early April, and if you see them around the island, please say hello!
