Community Center Update

We regret to inform you that Humble Pie and Seedlings will be CLOSED this weekend.  Hurricane Sandy knocked power out and we will need to restock our supplies before we can reopen.  Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hurricane Sandy Cleanup Update 111/1/12 5:04 pm

School will be in session tomorrow.  The Halloween Parade will be at the school at 5:30 pm.  Please clean up your walkways and sidewalks to make it as safe as it can be for the Trick or Treaters.

Power has not been fully restored to Fishers, there are still a few spots without power.  Shingle Hill, Castle Rd (past Jefferies), Oceanic ave (near library) are without power.

FEMA Aid Available to Residents Impacted by Sandy

 

Federal disaster aid is available to area residents and business owners who incurred damage from Superstorm Sandy this week.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) issued a statement Tuesday summarizing aid programs available to residents under a major disaster declaration that President Obama issue for New York State on Oct. 27. This action by the commander-in-chief means federal disaster funding is available to affected individuals in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, Bronx, Kings, New York and Richmond counties.

Hurricane Sandy Update 10/31/2012 1:30 pm

School will be closed tomorrow, the Ferry has resumed normal operations and normal schedule.

Debris removal, brush is being accepted at the Compost Station, Southold Highway Dept will be doing brush removal if your brush is placed curbside, please know it may take some time to collect. 

Utilities:  Telephone and Internet are running, some Electric was restored to parts of the West End last night, Shingle Hill has no power, Castle Rd past Jefferies is without power, there is no power west of the Lamb house by the ferry. 

Race Point is inexcessable, the Southeast runway is covered with large amounts of sand.  Vehicles are NOT PERMITTED on the runway. 

Hurrican Sandy Update 10/30/2012 4:35pm

The afternoon update.  The Emergency Operations Center will be shutting down at 8:00 pm tonight. 

Due to power outages the State Police secondary number 631-727-2727 please use that number if you cannt get through to the police at 788-7600.  Please do not call Southold PD due to their emergency situation in Long Island, necessary call only.

School is Cancelled for tomorrow, the school will be open from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm with generator power. 

Halloween has been POSTPONED until Friday November 2nd. 

The Ferry is attempting to run a normal schedule tomorrow, however the last boat may be cancelled due to water and debris conditions in the area.

Hurricane Sandy Update, 10/30/2012 1:30 pm

UPDATE:

Most of the roads are passible, Clay Point Rd from Thors to Tremaines is closed due to flooding, Castle Rd past Jefferies is not passable due to flooding.  Race Point Access Road has been washed away, the beachs at Race Point and South Beach have been severely eroded and the rocks from the beach have now covered the road.  The Airport will remain closed until further notice for fixed wing aircraft but we anticipate helicoper landings permissable soon.  There is severe flooding in the Parade Grounds and 6 inches of standing water from the Transfer Station to South Beach.  There is heavy debris in the road next to the putting green at the Big Club.

Update from the NY State Police

Fshers Island took a good hit from Hurricane Sandy, currently the island is without power.  Power will be out for an extended period due to numerous trees down and poles snapped.  There are pocket closures due to  unpassable roads.  Montauk Ave closed, numerous poles and trees.  East Main Rd by the Beach Club is unpassable due to debris.  The entrance to the ferry is closed due to a pole down.  Greenwood ave i nfront of the school will be a 2 way road until further notice.  Airport is closed due to debris.  

Please stay out of the way of emergency crews as they are cleaning up this mess.
